Ukrainian civilians took refuge in Mariupol’s steel plant for weeks before Russian forces attacked again this week. Dozens of refugees have reached safety, but many are still trapped in the Russian-occupied city.

Ukraine‘s Natalia Usmanova, 37, described what it was like when Russian forces bombed the Avozstal steelworks while civilians were hiding below. “We didn’t see the sun for so long,” she said. “You just can’t imagine what we have been through - the terror.”
