Charcoal use in DRC drives forest loss, conflict

More than 2.5 billion people worldwide depend on biomass (which includes charcoal, fuelwood and animal dung) for cooking every day. In the DRC, an estimated 90 percent of people rely on fuelwood and charcoal, while only 9 percent of people in the country have electricity.
