Two men herd cattle in Kenya. The continuing decline in rangeland resources, as well as lackluster harvest from poor, short rains have contributed to livestock disease and mortality, leading to general household food insecurity, a report by the Kenya Food Security Steering Group found. In February 2022, there were an estimated 3.1 million food-insecure people in northern Kenya, a 40 percent increase from August 2021.
