The November 1999 public execution of Zarmeena, an Afghan woman convicted of murdering her husband while he was asleep, at the Ghazi stadium in Kabul, Afghanistan. After a month of Taliban control in Afghanistan, the head of Afghan prisons remarked that the Taliban will privately resume executions and the amputation of hands for criminals.
