A Sudanese boy returns from the grocery store, where he bartered millet for sugar and onions. Nearly 12 million people face acute hunger in Sudan. The deepening food crisis is caused mainly by the county’s fragile economy, prolonged dry spells, reduced areas of cultivation and erratic rainfall, the UN Food and Agriculture Organization said.
