An Afghan special forces soldier explains how opium is made to General David Patraeus during the war in Afghanistan. The total value of Afghanistan‘s opiates production in 2021 was $1.8-$2.7 billion, up to 14% of the country’s GDP, exceeding the value of its legal exports, the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crimes said in its most recent report.
