Like Wa Lone, Myanmar pro-democracy protesters have been imprisoned for highlight conflicts in Myanmar under military rule that resulted from a military-led coup in February 2021. The Association of Southeast Asian Nations has recently put pressure on the Myanmar military, which has led to promises from the military that thousands of activists will be freed from imprisonment.
