Manuela, Dominga and Maria live in the Antigua Chuicutama community, municipality of Sta Catarina Ixtahuacán in the Sololá department of Guatemala. Through ECHO’s partner Oxfam, they have benefitted from European humanitarian aid following torrential rains in October 2011. They complain this type of rains are more and more frequent, they now happen almost every year. This poor community, living in a remote area on the slopes of the mountains, is not capable to face these disasters.
