The Maldivian army last month locked down the country’s Parliament after the opposition vowed to move ahead with a vote against a key ally of President Abdulla Yameen. Soldiers in riot gear dragged elected members of Parliament out of the compound. Politicians defied the ban, fighting off riot police and scaling walls to enter the Parliament compound.
